    Description

Up for sale is a 15 mL bottle of a wetting agent (Ilford Ilfotol) used in vinyl record cleaning solutions. This 15 mL bottle contains enough wetting agent to make 3 liters of vinyl record cleaner!
Please note that the recipe below requires two other simple ingredients to allow you to make your own vinyl record cleaning solution.
Don't waste your money on overpriced pre-made vinyl record cleaning solutions. Make your own! It is very expensive to buy the wetting agents on your own, as they are only sold in very large bottles.
    RECIPE HERE:
How to prepare your own record cleaning solution:
    --> FOR ONE LITER <--
    - 800 mL of distilled water
    (available
    cheap
in plastic jugs in every grocery store)
    - 200 mL of 99.9% isopropyl alcohol
    (available in grocery stores/pharmacies)
    - 5 mL of wetting agent
    (approx 1/3 of the bottle!
    WHAT YOU ARE BUYING
! This is by far the hardest ingredient to find on your own.
Combine the ingredients above in your own container and gently stir. Let it sit for 1 hr before use.
In my experience, this recipe is relatively flexible and forgiving. You can use other %'s of alcohol and adjust the recipe accordingly. Some folks can get away with using a little bit less of the wetting agent as well.
Q: What is a wetting agent, and why do I need it to clean my records? Can't I just mix water and alcohol?
    A:
A wetting agent changes how the cleaning fluid behaves, and how it travels/spreads/penetrates the tiny grooves of a record. Water and alcohol, alone, will not do this effectively. You
    must
add wetting agent. An alcohol/water mix on its own does not “wet”, and will not penetrate the vinyl grooves. Due to water surface tension, the liquid without wetting agent will "pool up."
Q: Where can I read more about this, and making my own cleaning solution?
