Antique / Vintage Walnut Architectural Column Bookend

This is an Antique / Vintage Walnut Architectural Column Bookend.
I can't tell for sure if the piece was originally created as a bookend, or if the column was converted from some other purpose into a hand-made bookend.  In either case, as found, only the single bookend was offered, not a pair.
The bookend is nicely finished with beautiful grain and patina.  As found, there are several fairly large chips out of the top edge as seen.  There is also a shallow crack below that as well.  The former is obviously from damage to the piece; the latter appears to be the result of natural drying and shrinkage of the wood.
The base of the bookend measures 3 1/2" x 6".  The height to the top of the column is 8" and the height to the top of the back panel is 5".
There are some cloth adhesive strips on the bottom that it appears may have been covered with felt or similar material to protect the surface on which the bookend rested.
The bookend is offered as found / as seen / as described with respect to that issue.
